Community Programs

CPFD provides many additional services outside of emergency response to our community. These include green address signs, smoke alarm installs, fire station tours, CPR training and more!

Smoke/CO Alarms

Smoke and CO alarms save lives! They should be placed in all sleeping areas and living areas. Batteries are checked every 6 months and alarms are replaced after 10 years. We install it for free!

Burn Permits

For residents living in the City of Coopersville or Polkton Township, a burn permit is required for any open burning. To apply for a permit, visit the link below.

Before you decide to burn, please review the ordinances for your area.

Car Seat Inspections

With statistics revealing an alarming 85% misuse rate of car seats due to improper selection or installation by parents, CPFD's certified inspector provides comprehensive inspections and installations. Their expertise covers a wide spectrum, including in-depth knowledge of seat belt systems, appropriate car seat selection based on age, compliance with manufacturer guidelines and state regulations, and understanding of airbag systems.

Address Signs

Reflective address signs assist our department in easily finding your home or business. The Fireman's Club sells these signs for a nominal fee.

Public Education

At the Coopersville/Polkton Fire Department, we are passionate about fire safety and education. We actively engage with our community by visiting local schools, daycares, and hosting student visits at our fire station. Through interactive presentations and hands-on demonstrations, we teach important fire safety practices to help everyone stay safe. Whether it's learning how to stop, drop, and roll, understanding the importance of smoke alarms, or practicing home evacuation plans, we strive to equip all members of our community with the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to fires effectively.
